I am 35 years old, living with stage IV Endometriosis, possibly adenomyosis and struggled with infertility for almost 4 years. I also struggled with PPD and now struggle with PMDD. I am a mother to a son that was born at 18 weeks and too precious for this earth; and now a mother to a son born in August 2011. By journaling here, I hope to benefit both for myself and for others that are dealing with this disease and fertility struggles. Thanks for visiting!

An update...

Just a quick note from Allison's husband:
The surgery seems to have gone well! They didn't end up having to resection-they were able to remove the endometrioma and building adhesions without anything major. They said they were able to get a good amount of the colon adhesions off since the GI surgeon was there. Her tubes are open but very inflamed. And, they put something on/around/near (this detail is fuzzy) the ovary to prevent future adhesions. She has 4 holes this time instead of 2, and, facing urinary burning (in addition to the pain) because of the stints that were put in the ureters during surgery. Her stomach is pretty bruised and hard right now. But, healing time has begun and we are hopeful! Seems that we'll be starting IVF towards the end of April!

Thank you for all the support and prayers. Keep 'em coming!

Thank you for posting this detailed update. This is great news! I was concerned that things were going to be worse with this surgery than they were. That is not to minimize what was done, of course. It just could have been worse. Please give Allison the message that she's in my thoughts and prayers (as are you). :)

Thank you for the update - I was thinking of you both yesterday and hoping things were going well and am so happy to hear that they didn't have to do a resection and Allison's tubes are clear. Will be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery with the least pain possible and the future options available to you.

Love Amanda xx

What IF? said...

So glad a resection wasn't necessary, and that IVF is a go for April. It will be here before you know it. What an awesome hubby to post updates for us. Rest up, Allison, it sounds like they did a lot of work, so I'm sure you're in pain. Hang in there.

Life. Complicated. said...

I was thinking of you yesterday. I know that my hubby loved the miralax better than the other stuff. For your hubby, I likened the stuff that they put around your overy to a used car salesman pitch. It is some kind of deterant to the endo. I got it all on my insides as well since I have stage 4 endo and they had to have a GI surgeon consult during surgery.

Happy healing!!
